The Post Yacht Hiorten 1692–1702 on the route Ystad–Stralsund connected the Scandinavian Peninsula with the European continent.
Ystad [ˈʏstɐ] or [ˈyːˌstɑːdʰ] is a municipality and city in Scania in southernmost Sweden.
The municipality covers an area of 352.5 km². Of the total population of 26182, 12620 are male, and 13562 are female. The population density of the community is 74 inhabitants per km².
Ystad is known internationally as the setting for many of the novels of Henning Mankell.
