Ynglis language
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Ynglis or Inglis is a name for the Anglian language of the historic Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Northumbria whose territory is divided now between England and Scotland. A variant of the language survived under the name Inglis in the Lowlands of Scotland. In the early 16th century it acquired the name Scots. (Until the late 15th century the name Scots - or Scottis - had referred to the Gaelic of Highlanders and Islanders.)
