William Hall Gage, 2nd Viscount Gage

William Hall Gage, 2nd Viscount Gage (January 1 1718 - October 11 1791) was born to Thomas Gage and Benedicta Maria Theresa Hall. He was equerry for the Prince of Wales and also served five terms as Member of Parliament representing the Seaford borough of Sussex.
As eldest son, he succeeded his father to the title Viscount Gage on December 21 1754. He served as Paymaster of Pensions from 1755 through 1763 and later from 1765 until 1782 when Parliament dissolved the office. On February 3 1757 he married Elizabeth Gideon, the daughter of Sir Sampson Gideon. His wife died July 1 1783. In 1790 he added Baron Gage of Highmeadow to the family titles. Gage died October 11 1791.
William Gage's younger brother, Thomas Gage, was Commander-in-Chief of British forces at the beginning of the American Revolution. Gage's nephew and namesake, Sir William Hall Gage served as Admiral of the Fleet in 1862.
