Wilhelm Gliese

Wilhelm Gliese (June 21 1915June 12 1993) was a German astronomer.

He worked at the Astronomisches Rechen-Institut, first in Berlin and then in Heidelberg. He is best known for his Gliese Catalogue of Nearby Stars, and some stars are best known by the catalogue number he gave them, such as Gliese 710.
