The 5e arrondissement is one of the central arrondissements of Paris, France, located on the Left Bank.

It borders the 4e arrondissement, 6e arrondissement, 13e arrondissement and the Seine River.

The Ve arrondissement is the oldest arrondissement in Paris, and was first built by the Romans.

The construction of the Roman town Lutece dates back from the 1st century BC, which was built after the conquest of the Gaulish site, situated on the île de la Cité by the Romans.
