Valvettithurai or Valvai is a small coastal village on the northeast coast of the Jaffna Peninsula in Sri Lanka's north. Its original name is Valvettithurai (val-vet-ti-thu-rai). It was here the LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was born. The main industry is fishing.
