Värend

Värend is one of the constituent small countries at the unification of the province Smalandia, in Sweden. It consists of the districts, or härader, of Allbo, Kinnevald, Konga, Norrvindinge and Uppvindinge.
The name Värend literally means to protect (skydda, värja) referring to the fact that it was on the border to the Danish Terra Scania and had a role of protecting the kingdom from invasion and skirmishes.
