University of Art and Design Helsinki

University of Art and Design Helsinki (Taideteollinen korkeakoulu in Finnish) is the biggest art university in the Nordic countries. It was founded 1871. Media Centre Lume - the National Research and Development Center of audiovisual media is also located in the university. The university acknowledges the following academic degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Licentiate of Arts and Doctor of Arts. The ratio of foreign students is the highest of Finnish universities.
The university has been active in establishing research projects and industry collaborations. During rector Yrjö Sotamaa's period a lot has been achieved in the reinforcement of the position of design in the Finnish innovation system.
