Founded in
1962, the
Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas (UJC, English:
Union of Young Communists) is
Cuba's political youth organisation. It's membership is voluntary and selective, and counts more than half a million active members.
The UJC is a member organisation of the World Federation of Democratic Youth. The 14th World Festival of Youth and Students was hosted in Cuba by the UJC.
Julio Martinez is the organisation's First Secretary.
The UJC publishes the daily newspaper Juventud Rebelde (English: Rebellious Youth) throughout Cuba.
