Unguligrade

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

Unguligrade animals are those which walk on the tips of their toes, typically on hooves. Examples include horses and deer. This enables them to extend their stride length and so move faster.

By contrast digitigrades walk with most of the length of their digits, while plantigrades place the full length of their feet on the ground in each stride.
