Underground rock

Underground rock is a term sometimes used to describe forms of rock and roll music which have little or no mainstream appeal, visibility or commercial presence.
Some formative, well-known underground rock bands from the 60'ies are Velvet Underground, The Stooges and MC5. The Punk Rock, New Wave, Hardcore and Indie movements are all parts of the historical undergrund rock scene.
