Trees of the Caribbean Basin

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

The Caribbean basin, with its tropical climate, has a great diversity of trees. The vegetation comprises primarily woody plants, some of which can become large, e.g. Kapok, able to reach 50 m tall. Some trees are able to grow at a much faster rate than in temperate climates. A Jacaranda, for example, can reach 15 metres height in less than 5 years.
