Tranekær municipality

Tranekær municipality, is a municipality in central Denmark, in the county of Funen. The municipality covers an area of 107 km², and has a total population of 3,467 (2005). Main city and site of municipal-council, is Tranekær.
Formed in 1970 from the following parishes;
- Bøstrup Sogn (Langelands Nørre Herred)
- Hov Sogn (Langelands Nørre Herred)
- Snøde Sogn (Langelands Nørre Herred)
- Stoense Sogn (Langelands Nørre Herred)
- Tranekær Sogn (Langelands Nørre Herred)
- Tullebølle Sogn (Langelands Nørre Herred)
By January 1, 2007 Tranekær municipality will cease to exists as it will combined with Rudkøbing and Sydlangeland municipality to form a new Langeland municipality.
