Torre Mayor
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
The Torre Mayor is a skyscraper in Mexico City, Mexico. With a height of 225 meters (738 feet) and 55 stories, it is the tallest building in Latin America.
Located at Paseo de la Reforma #505, it was built by Reichmann International on the former location of the Cine Chapultepec. Construction work began in 1999 and was finished in late 2003. Due to Mexico City's high propensity to earthquakes, the tower incorporates several anti-earthquake measures.
A public observation deck was opened on the 52nd floor on December 4, 2004. This is now the highest public observation deck in Mexico City, beating the previous record holder atop the Torre Latinoamericana.
Current prices for the observation deck (May 2005) are: adults $70, and children/seniors $35 Mexican pesos (MXN).
