The Torne River (Finnish: Tornionjoki, Swedish: Torne älv, Torneälven), is a river on the border between Sweden and Finland. It rises at Lake Torne near the border with Norway and flows generally southeast for a distance of 402 km (250 miles) into the Gulf of Bothnia.

Following the Treaty of Fredrikshamn in 1809, the river was chosen as a demarcation line for the new border between Sweden and the Russian Grand Duchy of Finland dividing the provinces of Laponia and Westrobothnia.

Cities on the Torne River often have both Swedish and Finnish names, like Haparanda (from Finnish Haaparanta, "Aspen Shore") and Tornio (from Swedish Torneå).
