The Parque Nacional de Timanfaya or Timanfaya National Park (created in 1974) is a parkland covering the southwestern portion of the municipality and is where most of its mountains are located. The park features volcanic mountains and rugged lands. The rest of the parkland is in Yaiza.

Tinajo has schools, lyceums, a few gymnasia, a few churchs, beaches, a post office, parks and a squares (plaza) including Plaza de la Constitución.
