Tigre language
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Tigre is a Semitic language descended from Ge'ez and is closely related to Tigrinya and Amharic. It is spoken by approximately one million people in Eritrea with a few speakers in Sudan. Tigre is also the name for the people. The Tigre language and its speakers should not be confused with the Tigray province in Ethiopia, nor with the Tigrinyan people in Tigray and Eritrea.
