Thigmotropism

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

Thigmotropism is the directional response of a plant organ to touch or physical contact with a solid object. Climbing plants, such as vines, contain tendrils that coil around supporting objects. These organs generally grow straight until they touch something. The contact stimulates a coiling response.
