Movie
The movie is about a group of very different people who live in a hotel in Los Angeles, focusing primarily on Tom Tom (Davies) and his romance with Eloise (Jovovich).
The story was originally developed by Bono in 1987 when filming the famous live video for "Where the Streets Have No Name" on the roof of the Roslyn Million Dollar Hotel in Los Angeles. The movie was optioned by Mel Gibson's production company in 1992. Bono was speaking to Gary Oldman for the lead role of Tom Tom at the time. The plans were sidelined until 1999 due to disagreements between Gibson, Oldman, and their requirements of who would direct the film.
The movie received moderate success and critical reviews. Gibson said in a later interview that this was the "most boring film" he had ever made.
Soundtrack
The film's soundtrack was executive produced by Bono and released in March 2000 (see 2000 in music). It features new music from U2 and various other collaborators.
