The Kentucky Kernel

The Kentucky Kernel is the student newspaper of the University of Kentucky. The Kernel's first issue was in 1915, and it became daily in 1966. In 1972, The Kernel became financially independent of the university, although its office is still on campus.
The Kernel is distributed free on and around campus, with a circulation of 17,000. Its sole source of revenue is advertising.
