The Cuckoo's Egg is a book written by Clifford Stoll. It is his first-person account of the hunt for a computer cracker who broke into a computer at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

The author discovered a USD$.75 accounting error in the computer usage accounts. Tracing the error he eventually discovered two crackers in West Germany apparently spying for the KGB.
