The Country Code

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

The Country Code is a set of rules and regulations aimed at tourists visiting rural, and especially agricultural, regions of the United Kingdom. They include rules on fire prevention, control of dogs and other pets especially in the vicinity of livestock, and prevention of disturbances to livestock and crops. Perhaps the best known of these rules is the simplest: always close a farm gate after you to prevent livestock from escaping.

In the 1960s and 70s the Country Code was publicised by several public information films on television.
