Flag of Iran President Mohammad Khatami of Iran

  • Voters in Iran cast their ballots among seven candidates to succeed President Mohammad Khatami in the 2005 Iranian presidential election. -- Ddye 19:03, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC), revised 64.229.221.114 21:48, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • My personal feeling is that "proceedings" don't count. Voting doesn't count; only the result of the vote matters. Others may disagree. However, once we have a victor, then this will certainly be ITN-worthy. --Golbez 03:18, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)
    • I see your point, but there is precedent for this: the UK General Election in May, and the Dutch and French EU referenda votes all were reported in progress (and I'm sure there are older examples). I think that the attention the Iranian vote has received makes this as significant an event as those. But in any case I supppose we should wait now until we get official word on who'll be in the run-off. Ddye 13:09, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • The article does not have this information, and there doesn't seem to be an obvious place to put it. Please read the criteria. Strange that there is no G8 Finance Ministers Meeting article. - BanyanTree 13:29, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Jack Straw
  • Now that the blurb on Qur'an desecration is the third item, maybe a new pic is in order. How about this photo of Jack Straw to go with the current top news item ? -- 199.71.174.100 00:57, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • In tennis, Justine Henin-Hardenne beats Mary Pierce 6-1, 6-1 to win the women's singles title in the 2005 French Open. (Please add this, but NOT as the top news, though. Thanks.) -- 64.229.223.240 15:23, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • I've added it. Items aren't ranked in order of importance, but rather the order in which they occurred. (Six minutes - not bad!) User:Rdsmith4/Sig 15:29, Jun 4, 2005 (UTC)
      • Thanks for the rapid response. I'm impressed. :-) If we are going chronologically, should the blurb on Guantánamo Bay Qur'an desecration move down a bit ? Or is it on top just to go with the photo ? -- 64.229.4.103 03:11, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Anurag Kashyap, an eighth-grader from Poway, CA, wins the 78th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC.
    • Posted. --Golbez 04:08, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)
    • Right. Very important news... I'd rather see Miss Universe up there on ITN. This at least has international relevance... And she is prettier. :-) -- 64.229.5.138 14:06, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • Did I miss something? Is it April Fools Day again?
      • Please remove this one quickly. Shouldn't be there at first place. No international relevance. --Edcolins 19:39, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)
        • International relevance is required? Ideally, but we sometimes have major stories not of international relevance; for example, I first heard about Jim McGreevy's resignation on ITN. Edcolins, would you rather have some football score over news like that, just because the two teams were from different sides of an imaginary line? --Golbez 20:23, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)
  • Europe: protests (http://noepatents.eu.org/) against Software patents
    • Fails to meet criteria. --Golbez 04:08, Jun 3, 2005 (UTC)
  • The Latvian Parliament Ratifies the EU Constitution 71-5. —Cantus 16:05, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)
    • Blurbs need links to Biocrawler articles that contain the updated information. See the criteria. - BanyanTree 17:32, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
      • Oh come on, I know this. I didn't have the time to look for the links. —Cantus 17:59, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)
    • The European Constitution article does contain the information, but I don't think we have a more specific article, as we do with the Dutch and French referenda. Accordingly, this shouldn't go on ITN.-gadfium 23:44, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
