Arakyd Industries
Arakyd Industries is a major manufacturer of droids, heavy weapons and starships. The company was loyal to the Empire and pioneered A.I. advances, its most noteworthy achievement being the Viper Probe Droid model, which the Empire used to discover the hidden Rebel base on the planet Hoth. Apart from the Viper Probe Droid its other most famous product was the XR-85 Tank Droid.
Black Sun
Black Sun is a fictional crime syndicate in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It was introduced in Shadows of the Empire, which featured the syndicate's de facto head, Prince Xizor, as its main villain. Since then, Black Sun has appeared in numerous Star Wars works.
Black Sun has existed, in some form or another, in the Star Wars galaxy for centuries. Black Sun is headquartered on Coruscant and its influence stretches the breadth of the galaxy. Before The Phantom Menace, Black Sun was headed by Alexi Garyn, who was killed by Darth Maul on his master's orders. In the time of the original trilogy, Black Sun was headed by Prince Xizor, a reptilian Falleen, who was so powerful that it was rumored only Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader were more powerful than him.
Rivalry between Vader and Xizor was especially strong due to the fact that, after an accident at a biological weapons laboratory on Xizor's homeworld, Vader ordered all the Falleens who had been contaminated to be "sterilized," (i.e. they were killed.) When Xizor learned that Luke Skywalker was Vader's son, he decided to kill Skywalker so as to foil Vader's plan to turn Luke to the dark side. However, when Vader learned of the scheme, he made sure Xizor paid with his life.
Black Sun never achieved its former glory after Xizor's death. Several attempts to bring the syndicate's have been orchestrated, including one by Xizor's niece Savan.
Black Sun may have been the source of the name for the Blue Sun organization in the show "Firefly."
Byblos Drive Yards
The Byblos Drive Yards were Imperial shipyards orbiting the planet of Byblos. The planet is likely named after the port city of Byblos, which was a major shipyard.
Commerce Guild
The Commerce Guild was a group of major corporate institutions that have come together to protect their pursuit of profits. The Commerce Guild is lead by Shu Mai. In the Star Wars movie, Attack of the Clones, Shu Mai was present in a meeting of Separatist leaders in Geonosis. She knew that support of the Separatists would be amount to treason but she could not resist the lure of promised wealth. She allied herself with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars and supplied armies of Droids to them. Products of the Commerce Guild include the dwarf spider droid and the homing spider droid.
Corellian Security Force
The Corellian Security Force, commonly abbreviated CorSec, is a fictional organization within the Star Wars Expanded Universe. CorSec is the primary police/law enforcement organization in the Corellian Sector, and was one of the best equiped and best trained sector forces in the galaxy. CorSec trained the soon-to-be Jedi Knight Corran Horn in law enforcement tactics. Not much is known about the operations of CorSec. It is assumed to operate as a regular law enforcement agency. In 6.5 ABY, CorSec was dissolved by the Diktat and replaced with the new Public Safety Service (PSS). However, the PSS was considered more interested in snooping that policing. The PSS was more interested in small and trivial matters. As it was put by Corran Horn, "graffiti was obliterated before it had a chance to dry".
InterGalactic Banking Clan
The InterGalactic Banking Clan is an organization that extended its support to the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. This financial juggernaut was represented by San Hill, a humanoid with an elongated orange forehead, from the planet Muunilinst at their formal meeting recorded in the second prequel Star Wars movie Attack of the Clones. One of the products of the InterGalactic Banking Clan was the powerful hailfire droid that was used during the Clone Wars. The Banking Clan is also responsible for the IG series of droids, including the IG Lancer Droids who fought in the Battle of Muunilinst, bounty hunter IG-88, and the IG-100 MagnaGuards, the personal bodyguards of General Grievous.
The headquarters of the InterGalactic Banking Clan is also on Muunilist, and the Galactic Republic battle to take that planet was shown in the Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries on Cartoon Network.
Techno Union
The Techno Union is a major technological union consisting of starship, computer, weapons, and droid manufacturers. The company is mainly run by Skakoans, a race dependent on technology. They had also held a position in the Galactic Senate and allied with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the last days of the of the Old Republic. With the rise of the Empire, what was left of the Techno Union's holdings were integrated into the Imperial war machine.
The foreman of the Techno Union is Wat Tambor.
