Transport
- A form of public transportation: see taxicab.
- An air taxi (charter jet) is a bizjet.
- A water taxi is a small boat that transports passengers on water.
- A verb describing the movement of an aircraft on the air. Usually this is between runways, or between a hangar or terminal and a runway. The paved surfaces on which aircraft taxi are called taxiways.

- An Australian exclamation, normally heard in pubs, clubs and bars following an act of discoordination (i.e. spilling drinks or breaking glasses). Suggesting that the uncoordinated party should probably be put in a taxi and sent home immediately.

Etymology
The word taxi arose as short for "taximeter", which was made from French taxe = "price" and Greek metron = "measure".

Taxis (singular) -- an oriented locomotion in a gradient, usually of simple organisms (chemotaxis, magnetotaxis, ...). The word taxis arose as Greek for "arrangement", from the verb tassein.
