Tavisupleba

"Tavisupleba" (in Georgian თავისუფლება) is the new national anthem of Georgia. The title means "Freedom".

History
The new Georgian anthem was adopted on 23 April 2004, exactly 5 months after the resignation of President Eduard Shevardnadze (former Soviet Foreign Minister).
"Tavisupleba" succeeds the old anthem Dideba zetsit kurtheuls, adopted after Georgia's independence from the Soviet Union.

- ჩემი ხატია სამშობლო,
- სახატე მთელი ქვეყანა,
- განათებული მთა-ბარი,
- წილნაყარია ღმერთთანა.
- თავისუფლება დღეს ჩვენი
- მომავალს უმღერს დიდებას,
- ცისკრის ვარსკვლავი ამოდის
- და ორ ზღვას შუა ბრწყინდება,

- Tsilnaqaria Ghmerttana.
