His Holiness Tamala Krishna Gosvami Maharaja (1946-2002), was born Thomas G. Herzig in the United States. He was an ISKCON Governing Body Commissioner (1970-2002) [1] (http://www.iskcon.com/icj/contributors.html#tkg), an initiating spiritual master from 1977 to 2002 and an articulate Gaudiya Vaishnava Theologian. He began his assoication with ISKCON in 1968 when he was accepted as a disciple by His Divine Grace A.C. As one of Srila Prabhupada's senior disciples, he often served as Srila Prabhupada personal secretary. Tamal Krishna Gosvami Maharaja also was the author of 8 books on various religious subjects, including two classical Vedic dramas [3] (http://www.goswami.com/Tamal_Krishna_Goswami/Books/books.html). Tamala Krishna Goswami was a doctoral student at the University of Cambridge, Clare Hall, under Dr. Julius J. Lipner [4] (http://www.iskcon.com/icj/9_1/contributors.html#jl) where his thesis was on the Krishnaology of ISKCON's founder, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. At the time of his death, he had compeleted all but the conclusion. Dr. Lipner's intention is to publish this dissertation in Tamala Krishna Gosvami's name [5] (http://www.iskcon.com/icj/9_1/obit.html). Tamal Krishna was also not unacustomed to controversy. He was related to many heretical approaches to the practice of Gaudiya Vaishnavism as ascribed by Srila Prabhupada. The Mysterious Pastimes of Mohini Murti

The Mysterious Pastimes of Mohini Murti are a series of lectures concerning Mohini-lila given by Tamala Krishna Gosvami during the Fall of 1993 [8] (http://tkgtm.com/tapes/sb.htm). These lectures cover two chapters of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada's translation and commentary on the Eight Canto of the Bhagavata Purana. Chapter 9 is (The Lord Incarnates as Mohini-murti) [9] (http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start=1&q=http://vedabase.net/sb/8/9/en1&e=10313) and chapter 12 is (The Mohini-murti Incarnation Bewilders Lord Shiva) [10] (http://vedabase.net/sb/8/12/en1). During these lectures, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada's discussions of Mohini-lila [11] (http://www.vedaveda.com/anglais/lectures/001.html) especially as they relate to gender roles in verse 8.9.9 [12] (http://vedabase.net/sb/8/9/9/) are analyzed and considered.

On the Term Krishnaology

Krishnaology is the discourse concerning the Hindu deity Krishna within the context of Vaishnava theology. Presently the term has been advanced by two prominant scholars. Tamala Krishna Gosvami elaborated on this term during his research at the University of Cambridge. While a doctoral student, Tamala Krishna Gosvami studied under Dr. Julius J. Lipner and devoted his time to researching the 'Krishnaology' of ISKCON's founder. Another scholar of Hinduism, Dr. Guy Beck, has published on the Krishnology of the Vaishnava sect known as the Radhavallabha Sampradaya. Dr. Beck expounds upon this research in his book Alternative Krishnas : Regional and Vernacular Variations on a Hindu Deity.
