Svendborg municipality

Svendborg municipality, is a municipality in central Denmark, in the county of Funen. The municipality covers an area of 173 km², and has a total population of 42,986 (2003). Main city and site of municipal-council is Svendborg

The municipality also covers the islands of Tåsinge, Thurø, Drejø, Hjortø og Skarø.

By January 1, 2007 Svendborg municipal will cease to exists as it will combined with Gudme and Egebjerg municipality to form a new Svendborg municipality.
