In chemistry, Sulfur monoxide (formula: SO) is an unstable species that forms when monatomic oxygen O reacts with sulfur S2.
It is produced in experiments of sonoluminescence if sulfuric acid is used instead of water.
Sulfur monoxide occurs in the plasma torus of Io.
