Steve Shaw

Steve Shaw (born 1975) is a Republican candidate and former investment banker currently positioning himself against incumbent Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former City Councilman Tom Ognibene in September 2005.

Early life and education
Shaw was born and raised with his brother Phil in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania by his father, an engineer, and his mother, who was an office manager. He graduated from Penn State in 1997 where he majored in economics and commercial recreation & tourism; he received the William Martin Award in economics. Shaw later worked for Bear, Stearns & Co. and served as vice-president of TD Securities in Manhattan.
Personal life and interests
Shaw currently lives in an apartment with his wife Nicole in either Park Slope or Midwood Park in Brooklyn. She is a real estate agent with The Corcoran Group in Park Slope; they currently have no children. His favorite food is steak, favorite sports are basketball and golf and his favorite song is "As Long as You Follow" by Fleetwood Mac. Shaw is a member of the Club for Growth. Political career
On June 17, 2004, Shaw announced his candidacy for mayor of New York City. He has no political experience or name recognition and his campaign currently has $33,000 in its' budget. Shaw supports tax reform, reducing city debt, relaxing the city smoking ban and reduced personal taxation. He also supports the death penalty, gay marriage and background checks for gun owners. Shaw opposes the city's bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics, the West Side Stadium and abortion except in cases rape, incest or when the mother's life is in jeopardy.
