Sten Wahlund

Sten Gosta William Wahlund (1901 — 1976) was a Swedish and human geneticist and member of parliament. He is best known for first identifying the Wahlund effect, that subpopulations with different allele frequencies cause reduced heterozygosity that than is expected from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.
Wahlund was born in Sweden. He BSc from Uppsala University in 1924 and a PhD 1933. He later became important in the bondeförbundet
