Before the 2005 season, the Cardinals played in El Paso, Texas as the El Paso Diablos, which were affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diablos played in Cohen Stadium, located in northeast El Paso.

Before they moved to Cohen Stadium, the Diablos played in what was known as Dudley Dome in Central El Paso. Located near the El Paso Zoo off of Paisano Street, the "dome" was an open-air stadium that had the unique ability to keep the temperature inside the stadium the same as outside the stadium.

After Cohen Stadium was opened, Dudley Dome was converted into an open-air soccer field.

Prior to the 2005 season, the St. Louis Cardinals Class AA affiliate was the Tennessee Smokies located in Sevierville, Tennessee.
