A Spit bug (or Spittle bug) is an insect that attaches itself to a plant or tree and produces a foamy froth that is used to protect it from predators. The spit bug lives inside this froth and it inserts its beak into the plant in order to feed off of the plant. The spit bug is of the suborder Homoptera.
The flea is often considered the highest jumper of the insect world, but it has recently been discovered that the Spit bug can jump more that two vertical feet, which is more than twice as high as the flea.
