Sneek
Sneek received city rights in 1456. The city is well known for its Waterpoort (litt. Water gate) and the Sneekweek, a yearly sailing festival. Sneek is one of the eleven cities of the Elfstedentocht.
[edit]
Ysbrechtum
Ysbrechtum (IJsbrechtum) is a small town (circa 700 inhabitants) three kilometres from the city of Sneek.
In Ysbrechtum you find Epema State, a beautiful old estate. The mayors of Wymbritseradiel, named "Grietmannen", lived there from 1651 until 1850. Every year in Summer and December there is a market of antiques and garden equipment.
