From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
Smilla's Sense of Snow (also published as Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow), is a book by Danish author Peter Høeg. It is a prosaic thriller, following the main protagonist Smilla Jaspersen, as she investigates the death of a child she befriended. The story begins in Copenhagen, where the child has plunged to his death from a snowy rooftop. Smilla,an outsider in Danish society, who was raised as a Greenlandic Inuit, knows there is more to the apparent accident than meets the eye, because she has a feeling for snow. Her investigations lead her to conspiracies in Copenhagen, and then voyaging on an icebreaker to a remote part of Greenland.
The book was also produced as a movie of the same name.
