Small angle xray scattering

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

A laboratory technique in which photons are elastically scattered from a sample. This sample can not be too thick. Liquids can be examined. Features on the nanometre length scale can be examined.

This type of xray ocurs when xray photons interact with the atoms of cells in the body, in xray imaging (radiography). The scattering detracts from the quailty of the resultant image by causing a reduction of image contrast.
