Side-chain

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

A side-chain is a chemical structure which is a feature of complex (usually organic) molecules. Side-chains may be chemically active and may bind to a particular chemical substances. It is this property which explains their presence in organic enzymes and protiens where they serve to carry out the chemical processes which support life.
