Sheetweb spider

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

The Sheetweb spiders belong to the family Linyphiidae. One common U.S. genus is Florinda. These spiders are so small that they can only be clearly seen with a powerful hand lens. The following pictures were taken with a digital microscope. The spider would not remain in one place so she became a moving target for the camers. The eyes of members of this family are found in a kind of shower head arrangement, and frequently the eyes sit on a kind of turret.
