Selwyn (district), New Zealand

The Selwyn district is located just outside Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand. Ruth Richardson, who would later become Minister of Finance in Jim Bolger's first National government (1990-1993), was elected Member of Parliament for the Selwyn district in 1981.
