Seal hunting or Sealing is the hunting and killing of Seals, usually for the purpose of selling their skins.
While sealing has been practiced since pre-historic times, during the 18th and 19th centuries it became a major industry with ships and gangs of sealers takings tens of thousands of seals per voyage and eliminating entire rookerys.
