Sculpture of the United States

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

Sculpture of the United States has existed since the nation was founded, having begun at that time with the patriotic work of William Rush of Philadelphia. American artists of that period were largely influenced by their European counterparts.

American Sculpture came of age in the 1960s with David Smith providing large formats metal sculptures. Today, people like Jeff Koons are continuing to produce great pieces that get world notice.
