Ruth Patrick

Dr. Ruth Myrtle Patrick (born 1907 in Topeka, Kansas) is a botanist and limnologist specialsing in diatoms and freshwater ecology, she developed ways to measure the health of freshwater ecosystems and established a number of research facilites. She earned her PhD at the University of Virginia in 1934. Her work has been widely published and she has received numerous awards for her scientific achievements. The Ruth Patrick Science Education Center is named after her.
