Russell Mittermeier

Russell Mittermeier is a primatologist, herpetologist and biological anthropologist. He has written several books for both popular and scientist audiences, and has authored some 300 scientific papers.
He has conducted fieldwork in many tropical locations, notably Brazil, Guyana and Madagascar.
Mittermeier has formally discovered several monkey species.
Since 1989 Mittermeier was named president of Conservation International, and in 2004 was awarded the second anual Aldo Leopold Award.[1] (http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2004-07/ci-aso072904.php)
