RAF Finningley

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

RAF Finningley was a Royal Air Force station near Doncaster, South Yorkshire. It has now developed into an international airport named Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, which opened on April 28, 2005.

It has served as a home to the Vulcan Bomber - a British long range, nuclear bomber, a navigational training school and a maintenance training school for the UK fleet of 'Sea King' search and rescue helicopters. Its runway is still one of the longest in the UK.
