R-1
From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.
The R-1 was the first ballistic missile built by the Soviet Union. It was given the NATO reporting name SS-1 Scunner and carried the industry designation 8A11.
The R-1 was a direct derivation of Germany's V-2 rocket of World War II.
The R-1 bore little relation to the SS-1b and SS-1c Scud missiles.
