- In the Revolutions of 1848 in the Italian states, the Quadrilateral (Quadrilatero) was the group of fortresses at Mantua, Verona, Peschiera and Legnago.
- In the Battle of the Somme in World War I, the Quadrilateral was a German redoubt near Ginchy, captured by the British on 18 September 1916.
- In World War II, the Quadrilateral was the name of a group of fortresses in Southern Dobruja, ceded by Romania to Bulgaria in September 1940 (see Romania during World War II).
