From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

Puerto San José is the main town along the Pacific coast of Guatemala, and is in the department of Escuintla. It contains about 20,000 people. it was the Pacific port for Guatemala, but this was superseded in the 20th century by Puerto Quetzal, a few miles to the east of the town. The Puerto Quetzal complex is the major employer in the town. There is a tourist industry but it is almost exclusively aimed at Guatemalans and other Central Americans.
