Prospective memory

From Biocrawler, the free encyclopedia.

Prospepective memory may be defined as remembering to remember. Such memory consists of remembering to perform an action given certain stimulus e.g remembering to pick up your laundry from the dry cleaners. Such memory is used everyday with tasks such as remembering what you have to do and when. Prospective memory rarely functions as a perciptible memory system, and can remarkably function independant of any outside set of stimulus. Internally generated cues can function to trigger prospective memory, however, external cues work much better.
