Plastoquinone, (often abbreviated pq), is a quinone molecule used in the electron transport chain in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis. Plastoquinone accepts two atoms of hydrogen, becoming plastoquinol. It then transports those atoms to ferredoxin.
