Olefin

An olefin is an alkene hydrocarbon. The name comes from the term olefiant gas, an early name for ethylene meaning "oil-forming".

A synonym for the more widely accepted term, alkene. Alkene's are Hydrocarbons that simply have a double bond between at least two carbon atoms. The least complex Alkene is Ethene followed by Propene, Butene, and so on. Alkene's serve as a feedstock for the Petrochemical industry. Olefin
